This car was initially purchased new by a friend and most of the modifications that were made by him were to increase the cars performance on the road course. Since I purchased the car and wanted to use it more on the street than the track, I made a few changes that were more street friendly. The car is still superior to stock in every way, but isn't as rough on the body as trying to drive a track car on the street. While the 93 is under the knife getting an engine swap, the STI has taken on daily driving duties and hasn't had any problems in the last few months of being driven every day.
The two biggest parts of that reliability while being driven daily during a Texas summer are the platform that Subaru provided as the manufacturer of the drivetrain and chassis, and the choice of parts that were installed to gain performance without sacrificing all of the manufacturer's research and design that went into the development of the car.
